Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic inflammatory disease, in which the immune system attacks healthy tissues of the body. It is one of several diseases that mimics other illnesses. Its diagnosis can thus be elusive. Some of the initial and chronic signs associated with this condition are malaise, fever, joint pains, fatigue, rashes and muscle pains.
