A young boy gets reacquainted with his father after the Second World War. His father returning home from a POW camp turns out not to be the hero he expected. Physical violence and desertion, but for the love of his mother, could have scared the young man for life, but not so. His determination to provide for himself and his mother through the early years along with an old man in a wheelchair that befriended him, forged the young man he was to become.
