The novel's central character, Rohit, struggles both with a psychological problem and with marketing the smartphone at Rs. 300. Rohit is delighted to be in darkness and feels guilty to face himself in the light. To overcome this internal emotional turmoil, Rohit plunges into a social cause, marketing a smartphone at Rs. 300. The reasonable cost now empowers anyone to buy a smartphone. As the story progresses, Rohit is compelled to add new features, including a regular weekly income and lifetime warranty to the smartphone. Thus, the novel is about seeding the idea, germination and finally branching of the digital revolution in Eastwest Island.
