This book is about a true friendship that started at a very early age between two young children. One an African American girl, the other a white boy. Ella and Timothy. As time passes by their friendship never weltered. Set in the 1950's where times in the south did not favor a race different friendship like this one. As they play in the forest as children they find another unlikely friend. His name is Jessie. He takes the children under his wings and they learn so much from "Uncle Jessie". As adults they went their own way, but always were there for each other until the end.
