Shyamali
Rabindranath Tagore
Shyamali is the feminine form of Shyamal, which means green. Tagore used the word Shyamali as a proper noun to name not only this poetical work but also the mud house he lived in from time to time in his old age. Shyamali is also the title of the concluding poem of the collection. This poem was composed on August 6, 1936 and is most affectionately associated with the earthen house called Shyamali.
