Wayland Fuller Dunaway
A Confederate infantry officer's war
This is a personal account of the Civil War written by a young confederate officer, a native of Virginia, who fought in many battles of the conflict. We accompany Dunaway as he joins the ranks of the 47th Virginia Volunteers and journey with him on campaign to Gaines' Mill, Cedar Run, Second Manassas, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville and eventually to the apocalyptic battle at Gettysburg. Dunaway was captured shortly afterwards and spent some time in Johnson's Island Prison. The author explains his campaign experiences in detail and his story also includes many personal anecdotes making it an invaluable source work of the Confederate perspective. This book is available in soft cover and hard cover with dust jacket, head and tail bands and gold foil spine lettering, making it ideal for collectors.
