FANNY HILL by John Cleland
Fanny Hill: Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure, by John Cleland (1709-89), published in 1748, is a classic of English erotica. This edition contains the whole of Cleland?s infamous book, which has been banned and prosecuted a number of times (including in the U. S. A. and Britain). It was finally published fully in the 1960s. It has been adapted in cinema and television many times. Fanny Hill is a beautifully written work, lyrical and down-to-earth as well as undoubtedly erotic. It still retains its controversial power. Above all, it is a pleasure to read.
Illustrated by Paul Avril (1843-1928), one of the great modern erotic artists, with the illustrations Avril produced for the 1908 edition of Fanny Hill.
