A seemingly professional burglary in New York City's jewelry district propels Michael O'Shea into a tangled web of murder involving a series of burglaries in the seemingly quiet tourist suburban town of Sunset Cove, Florida. He is pitted against the wiles of the Sunset Cove police department, led by Chief John Lawson, who has more than sufficient reason to believe Michael is behind the killings, and at least some of the burglaries. And Lawson is not afraid to color outside the box to get good results. Michael is assisted by a strange and attractive woman named Nicki Fontaine who is much more than she seems. Can Michael, assisted by Nicki, find the real killer before John Lawson sends him to a Florida prison for life or someone else kills him first?
