A generation ago America passed a law allowing a bankrupt person's debts to be bought by rich Masters. The debt slaves then belonged to their Masters for the duration of the debt. Urith hadn't been lucky when his debt was sold. He ended up in Mistress Hong's brothels being beaten and fucked by people who didn't give a damn about him. Still, there was some satisfaction to his new life. Learning the secrets of the Masters' who used him so that Mistress Hong could blackmail them was satisfying in many ways. Any guilt he might have felt when starting out quickly died under the realization that the rich and powerful were worse scum than criminals on the street. Urith tried not to think about what associating with them was doing to him. But sometimes he couldn't avoid it. Coming 'home' from a bad night with bad Masters to the new boy sharing his bunk forced Urith to deal with emotions he usually avoided and memories he tried to forget. It wasn't the new boy's fault that no one had filled him in on the facts of life in Mistress Hong's service but that didn't mean Urith enjoyed getting explanation duty.
