Early one Saturday morning, Kenzi slowly opened one blue eye and then the other, squinting and hiding from the sun as it streamed in through her bedroom window. Kenzi smiled when she remembered what her family would be doing on this special Saturday. Thus begins the story of a magical day in the life of seven-year-old Kenzi. After a nearby forest was burned the previous year, she and her family volunteer in their community's first-ever reforestation project. Throughout the day, Kenzi learns the importance of teamwork, friendship, and much more. When Juan-a new boy in the neighborhood-befriends Kenzi, they share their love of animals and work together to help with the rebuilding of the forest, realizing that every person's effort counts. At the end of the day, Kenzi gets the biggest surprise of all-the chance to see something she's only dreamed about.
