His first real work was as a teenager using his family's lawn mower to cut neighborhood lawns earning both spending money and his college tuition. In college, he continued working, this time for NASA earning the funds to support his college education. NASA liked his work ethic so much that upon graduation he was given full time employment. When Gold retired, he had worked for a number of US Government agencies and completed an enjoyable career.
