It is good to remember that all people worldwide, for all intents and purposes, are the same. We all want the same things and we all do the same things, albeit we may do them a little different. In China they think it is very interesting how fascinated Americans are with burgers and pizza. An American might wonder how the Chinese can eat so many noodles or squid. I have heard Americans wonder why the Chinese take their shoes off before they go in the house, the Chinese don't understand how Americans can walk into their home with dirty shoes on. I could go on and on. These are minor cultural differences and most of us realize that it is just a matter of habits. In Business there are many unwritten rules that the Chinese live by. As you will read, they are very specific and must be respected. If you don't. it can cost you a lot of business. I once made the mistake of leaving a business dinner early and forgot to thank the host. There were many people there and I was not feeling well, so I slid out without thanking the host.
