"All set," Tom said to Winnie as he walked back through the front door of Annie's house, rubbed his hands together to get them warm. "The car is running, and the heater is going full blast."




"Thank you so much for everything," Betty Lou said as Annie helped her and Lillian into their coats. "We do appreciate you including us old gals in your Christmas celebration."




Winnie, the third member of their little band of friends, was still talking animatedly to Annie's father, Pete who was helping her with her heavy coat.
