Dr. Cabot finds himself faced with a beautiful nurse who, at their first meeting, was prepared to hate him. As time passes she becomes the one person who understands his Korean War induced PTSD and provides support when episodes of déjà vu" occur. Their relationship blossoms as they face black-lung diseased coal miners and the innate poverty and ignorance of the 1950's southern Appalachian Mountain folks. However, Doctor finds himself enthralled with the innate wisdom of the Hill People and joins them in their fight for basic human rights. However, his Bostonian persona often provides humorous backlash to his well-intentioned efforts providing good-natured feedback from his new friends and patients.
