The kid in this book had a lot of heart. It showed as an altar boy experiencing the Presence of God, a juvenile delinquent who got hit upside the head by a cop when stealing a handgun from a car, and singing bass as a member of a Doo Wop group appearing on a local television dance show. The kid got drafted but applied the lessons of his old neighborhood while leading a combat infantry platoon in the Vietnam War when he was awarded the Bronze Star, serving as a union organizer for working men and women and then preserving the liberties of poor folks caught up in the criminal justice system where he served as a trial attorney. He wrote of his exploits in a blog entitled "Contoveros." It means "singer of truth" in Latin and was his father's name before someone at Ellis Island changed it to Contos, which means "short" in some language. Contos shares the exploits he wrote for the "Contoveros Blog." He tried to stay authentic and use real names unless they tended to incriminate some folks or make them appear foolish, which was never his intent. A Brewerytown Kid Grows Up is quite unique and will show you a slice of life a true risk-taker enjoyed while living and then writing about it.
