The Basketball Novels includes three stories - written over the course of 30 years - in which the sport of basketball plays a significant role. All first-person accounts, Even The Losers tracks the journey of a high school senior as he navigates life in a group home, academics in a special education class of "losers," and his relationship with an old teacher who sees his potential; Animal Behavior follows a psychologically-damaged struggling artist coming to terms with his mistakes and himself, and his twisted (and yet beautiful) relationship with a female counselor; and The Winners is an autobiographical story of a therapist working to understand his own life as he helps others do the same and strives to emerge victorious in a basketball tournament against unbeatable foes.
