She Tells Us Stories
Eleanor Stewart
The stories in these poems are true, or as true as memory allows them to be. They show an American girl from a small town on the border of West Virginia and Ohio gradually becoming a citizen of the world. Eleanor Stewart takes us into the New York theater world, on to tutoring Vietnamese refugees in Denver and then through the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in a refugee camp on Palawan Island in the Philippines, and had a brief stay in Australia before teaching in Japan. She is retired in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
