On 7 - 12 of March 1968 a festival of amateur songs (so called The Bards' Festival) was held in Novosibirsk's Akademgorodok.

It was organized by the club "Under the integral," together with the clubs of Moscow and Leningrad. The singers from Moscow, Leningrad, Sverdlovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Minsk, Kazan and Sevastopol took part in the festival.

Concerts were held in Academgorodock and in Novosibirsk. All the halls were always overcrowded.

Despite the prohibition of the authorities, Alexander Galich performed his songs on stage for the first and the last time in the USSR. His performances had a stunning success, and immediately raised the whole festival to a higher level, and made it not only the biggest success for the activities of the club Under the integral, but also the most vivid social event in the Academgorodock history.

This book gives the readers documental, detailed and very colorful description of how it had happened.
