International-mindedness in Education: a Case Study of an International School

The interconnected world has influenced notions of aglobal learning society in a global village, and manyinternational schools around the world have embracedthe concept of international-mindedness to guidetheir educational aims and goals so that they arealigned with a global culture. This case study willresearch the interpretations ofinternational-mindedness among a select number ofstakeholders at one international school in Cairo, Egypt, in order to understand how they view anddefine international-mindedness. By analyzing schooldocuments, collecting field notes, and interviewing asmall number of stakeholders, this qualitative casestudy will crystallize its findings to see ifinternational-mindedness is a shared social constructor a number of shared social constructs. The findingsfrom this intrinsic case study will interesteducators and scholars who are concerned with howglobalization and globalism have intersected with theinternational school or international-mindedness. Thedata from a natural setting of an actualinternational school could point to areas for futurestudies and articulations of international-mindednessin an interconnected world.
