The Violence of Capital Punishment

Capital Punishment has no place in the American system's claim of equal justice under the law. Due Process is an important part of the Constitution of the United States, including the right to a fair trial. This right has been negated in some cases by those who have faced the death penalty. Those who are condemned to death are often not in a position where they can choose who will represent them. Being in a position of power and having enough resources to defend yourself is often the difference between a life and death sentence. My research has shown that sentences have been handed out, at times, that are arbitrary and unfair, with consequences that are irreversible. The only answer to this dilemma is to abolish Capital Punishment in the United States and worldwide entirely. We should stop the violence that occurs when the government is allowed to legally take a life.
