Epidemiology of Non-cardiac Chest Pain
Guy D. Eslick
Chest pain is a very common symptom. There has been considerable epidemiological research undertaken on chest pain related to angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction; however, little is known about the epidemiology and importance of non-cardiac chest pain in the general population and patient samples. The broad objective of this book is to provide data on the epidemiology of non-cardiac chest pain in terms of prevalence, risk factors, impact, quality of life, health care seeking behaviour, predictors of outcome and natural history in population- and patient-based representative samples. Issues not previously addressed are examined in a series of studies.
