The Development of Intercultural Capability: a Guide for International Students and Managers
Peter Townsend
This research examines the concept of Intercultural Capability. It is relevant to people involved in training and developing international managers, as a framework for training designs and practical exercises for development. As theorised, this capability of international managers involves having justified confidence in one¿s ability to behave appropriately in both familiar and unfamiliar cultures. Intercultural Capability, as a theoretical construct, focuses the factors derived from previous elements described in the research literature, relevant to the social capabilities of international managers.. The results, using factor analysis, found that the theoretical model was supported by the data. The fit indices are at statistically acceptable levels, indicating a suitable fit between the theory, structural model and data, for the theoretical construct of Intercultural Capability.
