The Poor Crime Victim
Daniel Larsson
In contemporary societies poverty and crime victimization are viewed as major concern. However, poverty seldom has content but is understood as. just poverty, and for the public and among politicians crime represents the continuous breakdown of the society, even though statistics clearly show that crime has not become more common since the 1990's and that the violence in the society is not steadily getting worse. The issue that this book primarily deals with is how we shall understand poverty, and what kinds of problems poverty causes. In the book, the problems in focus are crime victimization and fear of crime. The questions asked is; given how poverty is understood what kind of problem do poverty cause, what are the relation between different countries regarding poverty and the relation between poverty and crime victimization respective fear of crime.
