His so-called society comedies are often not taken into consideration when his importance as a writer is discussed. Nevertheless "Lady Windermere's Fan" (1892) "A Woman of No Importance" (1893) and "An Ideal Husband" (1895) were quite successful on stage and are still good box office when put on today.
