Sexuality and Psychosis

There is a widely held view that people who experience psychosis are somehow asexual and unable to establish and maintain meaningful intimate relationships. This study presents a challenge to this notion through the poignant, inspirational and often moving narrative accounts provided by people who have been medically diagnosed with schizophrenia. Study participants often felt relieved at being given the opportunity to articulate hopes and aspirations around potential sexual and relationship issues. Important information is presented that may guide mental health practitioners in their work with people who come to utilize their services.
