Synthesis of antimalarial compounds is still a major target of interest amongst the chemists worldwide due to the growing resistance of the Plasmodium species. This book depicts the synthesis of a few thiazolyl analogs of chalcones for antimalarial and antibacterial action. An acid catalyzed Claisen-Schmidt condensation was used to synthesize the chalcones. The chalcones were found to be effective against Plasmodium falciparum in vitro.
