The general aim of this book is to investigate Barack Obama?s online language during his first governing period in 2009-2011. Classic approaches to language studies are being enhanced by new methods in this study. The research question in this book was to discover how the visual component combines with textual distribution and hyperlink structure, in what I envisage as a new way to organize discourse information. This perspective lies in the realm of Human-Computer Interaction. The study also aims at answering how this can connect with the ideas of space and time in human communication, taking into account a large corpus of tweets that interrelate well with both Computer-Mediated Communication and Corpus Linguistics. For that reason, the concepts of rhetorical space and deixis have been considered for deep analysis. All in all, methods inspired in Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction and Corpus Linguistics have been integrated into a holistic approach that I hope can help professionals in Linguistic and Communication fields understand and open the frontiers to the study of political language online.
