Agricultural developments with the infusion of science and technology since the last century, has ignored women?s role in agriculture. Although they are involved in all aspects from crop selection to land preparation, seed selection, planting, weeding, pest control, harvesting, crop storage, handling, marketing, and processing the productive force, rural development policies rarely take into account their needs and problem. Recent developments in the social, economic and technological areas have important effects on the rural women across Asia. Under this background this book is intended to study the gender specific participation scenario in agriculture of the state wise population data of India as well as districts of West Bengal. Trend models are fitted to estimate the growth pattern. Status of male and female Cultivators versus Agricultural Labours of different states of India is also studied. Work Participation Rate and Compound Growth Rate are determined. Further, ranking is made for all the states of India and the districts of West Bengal based on Average WPR. To get the states of identical behaviour in Indian agriculture Hierarchical clustering is done.
