The present work provides an example of methods and steps involved in forensic examination of dead bodies. An attempt has been made to create a death scenario in which decomposing carrion of pig is studied for a certain period of time. During this period the behavior of number of different insect species visiting and colonizing the carrion is continuously observed. It is found that this study could serve as a basis of forensic studies to know about the approximate time elapsed death, season/climatic conditions (like temperature, humidity, rainfall etc.), and geographic location which are primary informations required to understand the crime scene.
