Economic Security of Hill Women of Uttarakhand State (India)

The present study was conducted in Tehri district of Grahwal region of Uttarakhand. A total of 210 hill women were selected in the study area with the help of survey method. In comparison to plain area women, hill women?s job opportunities are less so, there women start their own businesses. Hill women mainly hold marginal and small land in large scale. In hills service class women to business class women showed 30% & 29.5% respectively while 42% and 43% are indulged in labour and caste occupation. Most of the hilly women earned Rs. 36000 to Rs. 60,000 annually. The study conducted to design such strategies to support the hill women by enhancing the ability to cope with the negative economic and social impacts of the globalization process.
