Degrading Environment: a Comparative Study
Anjuli Chandra
The present research work is an attempt to study the problem of environmental degradation on local level. Although the causes of environmental degradation are many but in this study industrialization exclusively is taken as a cause. The present study, thus by following an anthropological approach explored the impacts of environmental degradation on the socio-cultural settings by comparing two industrial areas of the district of Allahabad, UP. This has been done by focusing on the understanding of man?s experience, use and awareness of environment through his own eyes, through his own evaluation. The study gives suggestive measures in the concluding part and provides a new research area to be explored anthropologically.
