Medicinal legumes are represented in Bangladesh by 107 species under 48 genera including herbs, shrubs and trees. Medicinal value of the species have been ascertained based on the field study as well as literature survey. Recorded plant species are effective as astringent, anthelmintic, antipyretic, aphrodisiac, laxative and tonic. Recent field study in Chapai Nawabgang, Bangladesh reveals that the fresh leaves extract of Senna shopera (L.) Roxb. is very effective for the treatment of asthma. Bark extract of Pueraria tuberosa (Roxb. ex Willd.) is a very appropriate drug for the remedy of female diseases like dysmenorrhoea, leucorrhoea and amenorrhoea etc. Sometimes specific medicine for the remedy of different types of skin diseases have mentioned.
