Adolescence is widely recognized as a transitional period between childhood and adulthood. This period is separated from childhood years in that for the first time, adolescents begin to challenge parental belief system in an effort to conceive a sense of self. Consequently, identity formation features as a key developmental outcome during adolescence and lays a strong foundation for future psycho-social development and interpersonal relationships. In the preparation of life as an adult the adolescent begins to establish ones own identity and in this process, he is faced with many questions and decisions, which are part of the adolescent experience. Parenting style is a very important instrument that would affect the environment that adolescent is going to get for identity exploration and commitment. The present book entitled ?Parenting Influencing Adolescent?s Identity? focuses on the parenting styles and its influence on adolescents identity styles.
