Dlya formirovaniya briketa ispol'zuetsya lokal'noe i kratkovremennoe vozdeystvie potoka energii bol'shoy plotnosti, a imenno korotkiy impul's elektricheskogo toka bol'shoy plotnosti. Na laboratornoy i opytno-promyshlennoy ustanovkakh izgotovleny brikety razlichnoy formy, razmera i plotnosti iz struzhki titanovykh splavov, v tom chisle vysokoprochnykh, (VT1-0, 3M, VT20 i dr) i ryada drugikh metallov. Mekhanicheskie ispytaniya pokazali, chto pri otnositel'no nebol'shom vklade energii (~ 5 kvt chas/t) prochnost' briketov na razryv prevysila 200 kN/m2. Pri briketirovanii na vozdukhe dazhe takogo khimicheski aktivnogo metalla kak titan zagryaznenie metalla neznachitel'no. Otsenka tekhnologicheskikh vozmozhnostey ispol'zovaniya briketov v promyshlennykh usloviyakh pokazalo, chto pri uvelichenii soderzhaniya doli briketov v sostave shikhty na 1 % soderzhanie kisloroda v splave uvelichilos' na 0,008 %. Temperatura briketov posle obrabotki ne prevyshaet 200 oS. Dannaya tekhnologiya yavlyaetsya energosberegayushchey.
