In law school criminal law your primary focus is on the substantive principles of common law and the Model Penal Code. It is important to remember that in law school criminal law the goal is not to teach you the practical principles of criminal law but to teach you to think about identifying the issues and memorizing the rules of law so that you can excel on law school exams, and ultimately the Bar exam.
