'strict Democracy'- Burning the Bridges in Politics: the African Story
Felix Kutsanedzie
The main character in this novel, Eyale, ideologises the need for a new system ? ?Strict Democracy?, which should help burn the bridges in politics in the developing and under developing countries by proposing stiffer punitive measures to mitigate the selfish urges of political appointees and their cronies. ?Strict Democracy? espouses the need to vote solely on idea basis rather than on party lines; the need for the nation to jail all politicians in the ruling government should they fail to deliver to promises they made in their manifesto. It also brings to the fore the need for members of parliament to be sacked before their tenure should they vote contrary to the decisions of their people.
