Claire Wilson is born with a congenital defect but is medically mutilated and raised as a boy. When she looks in a mirror she sees a girl but those around her see a boy. From an early age therefore she is plagued by an enigma. Who or what is she? Trying to be the boy her family desires, she struggles with her gender dysphoria until one day her mother explains that she was born a hermaphrodite, having two genders. Her life now takes on a new meaning. However each time she tries to break out of the mold in which her family and society has placed her, she is forced to retrace her steps. Her trauma deepens. Eventually something breaks.
