This research has its relevance for the current situation of Colombian exporters and importers Mipymes, since from the SAFE framework of the World Customs Organization, the signatures of Free Trade Agreements and the various initiatives arising from the National Logistics Plan that includes plans for land use and mobility and restriction of large cargo vehicles within the cities, major changes have been occurring, the last was the implementation of a new customs statute, since March 2016. This new regulation, within its articles, makes special emphasis in the Non-Intrusive Inspection, stronger sanctions for cargo contamination and information adulteration, among others. For this reason, this investigation for the implementation of a new 9-foot packaging unit acquires greater relevance since SMEs will be able to rely on it to minimize risks and speed up foreign trade operations. This new packaging unit has a great added value since it will be made of recyclable material, in accordance with the care of the environment.
