Serum concentrations of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), Castelli index, HDL cholesterol and non-HDL cholesterol were determined in 200 people, aged between 30 to 70 years, who attended the Cerrillos Polyconsultorio between January 2015 to December 2017 and these biochemical parameters were related to the following variables: age, sex and body mass index (BMI). The mean values obtained were: females: 43.50% and males: 56.50%, TC: 187 mg/dl; triglycerides; 183 mg/dl; Castelli index 4.66; HDL cholesterol: 39 mg/dl; non-HDL cholesterol: 146 mg/dl and BMI: 26.89 kg/m2. For TC, 56% were found to have desirable levels and 44% had hypercholesterolemia. For triglycerides, 50% had desirable levels and 50% had hypertriglyceridemia. Regarding Castelli's index, 53.5% had a value higher than 4.0. For HDL cholesterol 46.5% had values higher than 40 mg/dl. For non-HDL cholesterol 50.5% had a value greater than 130 mg/dL. Regarding BMI, 2.50% had low BMI; 46.50% had normal BMI; 20.50% were overweight and 30.50% obese.
