Sexually transmitted diseases have long been a serious threat to the health and well-being of women. Sexually active young women are affected by some of these diseases, including pregnant women. Their diagnosis is sometimes difficult, because it can have simple manifestations or combinations of symptoms of different etiologies, being frequent an asymptomatic behavior. In this sense, phase contrast microscopy is an easy technique, with immediate results, which allows the timely indication of treatment. This book discusses the effectiveness of the use of phase contrast microscopy for the diagnosis of cervicovaginal infections in pregnant women.
