The primary data were collected by survey method through personal interview technique with use of pre-structured and pre- tested schedule while secondary data were collected from journals, reports and record of district and block head quarter. The study covers agricultural year 2016-17. 100 farmer were selected (62 marginal, 28 small, 10 medium) from five villages of Lakhimpur block of Lakhimpur (Kheri) district of U. P. The study reveals that per hectare and per farm average investment on overall farms recorded to Rs. 399300.10 and 436157.60. In cropping pattern, paddy and wheat was major crop and mustard has the third position which covers 10.06 per cent to total cropped area and cropping intensity was 201.55 per cents. On an average per hectare cost of cultivation was 30169.35, highest cost of cultivation was medium (32549.25) followed by small (31528.40) and marginal (29171.74). On an overall average quintal per hectare cost of production was found to be Rs. 2446.44. Input - output ratio overall farms came to 1:1.33. Five variables namely seed, tractor charge, manure & fertilizer, irrigation charges and human labour were considered to work out the resource use efficiency.
