The Odzukru people, established in the south of Côte d'Ivoire, on the north-western bank of the Ebrié lagoon, were formed between the 16th and 18th centuries by populations coming from the Krou and Akan countries. After the formation of the people, the Odzukru set up initiation rites in the 18th century to educate and train their youth. These were the "Low" for boys and the "Dédiakp" for girls. Training in political and social life was extended to adults with the institution in the 19th century of the rites of the "Eb-Eb" or coronation of rulers and the "Agbadzi".
