Over the last fifteen years, the DRC's economy has returned to positive growth rates, which are on average almost three points higher than the sub-Saharan average of 5%, according to various official reports by international financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank Group, the Economic Commission for Africa and the African Development Bank. However, the Congolese population is experiencing real difficulties in gaining proper and sustainable access to basic social goods and services, as a result of the poverty that affects many households, as shown by the increase in malnutrition and other indicators of the deterioration of the quality of life. Faced with such a terrifying and unimaginable situation of household impoverishment, Chinese-style shock therapy is needed. Many reasons are given for the process of impoverishment of the state, enterprises and households in this country, which has an impressive human and natural resource base.
