The Oscar
Terry Hindley
1930s film star Albert is unlike other film stars. He is a Chimpanzee, one that can talk. No one other than his owners knows that he can talk. In the 1980s, long after retiring, he reads that his old co-star, Rod Strong, now deceased, is to be inducted into the Hollywood Hall of Fame. Albert is angry. Strong had won an Oscar that he believed should have been his. With the help of Perry, his owner’s daughter, who is unaware of his intentions, he steals not only the Oscar but also a valuable necklace he likes the look of. When Perry finds out what he’s done she insists the items are returned before the owners find out they are missing. However, things go wrong. Perry is caught in possession of the goods and Albert must go on the run. Their futures look bleak, but Fate is not quite finished with them yet.
