"In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name." Matthew 6:9 The model prayer that our Lord Jesus taught was recorded in the Gospel of According Matthew. As preamble to His teaching, He told the disciples "not to use vain repetitions as the heathen do". Clearly then, the wordings in the prayer are not "religious scripts" to be recited or chanted. The purpose of this book is to expound the truths contained in these lines that will aid us in our prayer life. From the time of Genesis, man has called upon the Lord by His many names in various circumstances. In this New Testament prayer, Jesus revealed God as Heavenly Father to those who believed in Him and the One who sent Him. This revelation is the anchor of our prayer life, praying in our position as His Children with understanding for ourselves and other believers in unity of the Spirit. Let us pray.
