The Sweet Cheat Gone Marcel Proust

This is Volume 6 of Marcel Proust's In Search Of Lost Time. Albertine disparue (Albertine Gone) is the title of the sixth volume of Marcel Proust's seven-part novel, À la recherche du temps perdu. It is also known as La Fugitive (in French) and The Sweet Cheat Gone (in English). In the sixth volume of the series, fitting seems that Proust's past actions conclude with a fair resolution. The captive is now the fugitive. Like in previous volumes, envy and distrusts eventually reveals unsuspected and unwanted revelations that lead the Narrator to reconcile himself with his melancholy. But unfortunately, happiness still running away for him, and the marriage of his once good friends faces him against his own misery which he tries to cover with indifference.
