This is an excellent array of Russian paintings fascinating in content and dazzling in style and technique. That they illustrate historical places and events are almost irrelevant for those places and those times have become dimmed in memory of most of us without history degrees. These paintings draw you in and make you want to find out their historical connections and meanings as well as make you want to find out about the artists who created them and the ones that intrigue you. It's a great introduction and armchair visit to Russia.
