Play Of Shadows is a novel about longing and love, woven into a drama about a shipwreck. The time is 1952, and the novel has main arenas in Bergen and in New York. The main character, Edvard Knausen, is the head of the New York office of a Bergen shipping company. In his spare time, he is a pianist, and frequents the jazz scene in the metropolis. The other main character, Shea Olegova Rabinowitz, is the daughter of a haberdasher in Bergen. By chance, she has survived the persecution of Jews in Norway during World War II, but has been strongly mentally affected by the war in hindsight. Before the war, she was the first violinist in the music company Harmonien in Bergen. Shea's father was once Edward's employer. Play Of Shadows is about feeling naked, and alone, about feeling existentialist. It is a continuation of the author's debut novel: Mind Pictures
