This futurist thriller sets a sophisticated rogue AI called Big AL on the trail of a mysterious young woman who like the Sybil cannot die. Starting life as an amnesiac teenager in Boston in 2030, Vela Shen is repeatedly snatched from her present and set down somewhere further along time's ribbon, in an alternate version of herself, and yet with all her memories. Who she really is and why this is happening to her are questions she tries to answer wherever and whenever she travels. Then one day she learns something frightening about Big AL, and that brings him after her. Luckily, a girl's voyage of self-discovery can reveal depths she didn't know she had. As their endgame intensifies Big AL sees that Vela's strengths are going to make her a tough adversary.
