Three Men in a Boat

"There were four of us: George, William Samuel Harris, myself and Montmorency. We were sitting in my room, smoking and chatting about how bad we were; bad from a medical point of view, of course. We were all feeling sick, and that was making us quite nervous. Harris said that sometimes he got such extraordinary dizziness that he hardly knew what he was doing, and then George said that he too had dizziness and hardly knew what he was doing. In my case, what was not working was the liver. " Consequently, the three men (the opinion of the dog Montmorency does not count) decide to embark on a cruise on the Thames, in search of spiritual peace and a healthy life. What these martyrs of hypochondria ignore is that sometimes things happen that can transform the most modest of trips into an adventure at least picturesque.
